You might have pushed off doing it because it seems like an uncrackable enigma, or maybe you did it for a while, but it never really made an impact. Well, our social media posting guide is here to rescue you!
Okay, “rescue” might be a stretch. After all, there’s still a considerable amount of work to be done on your part. However, we can help you get started and avoid some common mistakes.
We’ll break down the most popular platforms and let you know when and what to post! However, always remember to stay reactive. Different businesses and industries might require tweaking. If something is working, keep doing it. If it’s not, change it up!
With more than two billion people using it, Facebook is still the most popular social media platform in the world. It also continues to produce strong engagement from its users.
Best Times To Post
The highest engagement rates on Facebook occur during the week, before the workday has started. So, posting Monday to Friday from 8 a.m to 9 a.m. is a good plan, but you’ll get pretty consistent engagement anytime before 1 p.m.
Times To Avoid
You’re going to want to pretty much avoid weekends on Facebook. There are a few spots where engagement isn’t awful, like the mornings, but everywhere else it’s pretty much a ghost town.
What To Post
Videos are quite at home on Facebook and have proven to be the best style of content for the platform. Brand-building videos work, but how-to videos and educational content really works wonders here.
Instagram isn’t just a place to find influencers or laugh at memes (though, both of those things can be useful if utilized properly), it’s the perfect place to showcase products using a variety of different formats.
Best Times To Post
Just like Facebook, weekdays are the best time to post on Instagram. More specifically, there seems to be a hotspot of engagement from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. On Tuesdays and Wednesdays you can stretch that out to 2 p.m.
Times To Avoid
Sticking with the pattern, Instagram has pretty weak engagement on weekends. There is some to be had on Saturday mornings at around 9 a.m. but other than that, stick to weekdays.
What To Post
As we mentioned before, high resolution photos of your product are right at home on Instagram. Thanks to robust video features too, including both short and long form options, you can really highlight what makes your product stand out.
Another thing that does remarkably well on Instagram is user-generated content. Showcasing photos and content that your customers have created is an awesome way to spark engagement and build a loyal following.
TikTok
The new kid on the block that has exploded in popularity and shows no signs of slowing down. Users quickly scroll through millions of short-form videos, and you need to be quick when hopping on trends, as they face rather quickly.
Best Times To Post
There are the normal times you would expect here, such as 10 p.m on Mondays and 11 p.m. on Wednesdays. When people are winding down for the night and start scrolling before bed.
However, there is also a hotspot of engagement midday on Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursdays from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Some people need a little pick-me-up to get them through the rest of the workday.
Times To Avoid
Are you ready? You’re never going to guess. Weekends are not a great time to post on TikTok. You might find some engagement around 7 p.m. on Saturdays, but again, it’s best to stick to weekdays
What To Post
While TikTok certainly isn’t for every brand, the good news is that if it is, they’re incredibly easy to create. As long as you keep up with what’s trending and have a decent sense of humour, TikTok is the perfect place to connect and build your brand identity.
