Social Media Advertising

social media advertising

Social media is currently one of the most popular forms of advertising. These days, it’s hard to find anyone who isn’t on some type of social media platform. It’s easy to reach a large audience through social media advertising. What’s great about digital advertising, such as social media, is that it’s easier to be able to track how well the advertisement is doing.

Of course, when you decide to use social media, it’s important to figure out which platform to use. Each platform has a specific tone and purpose, so depending on your strategy, choose your platform wisely. If you want to know what each platform is good for, check out our previous blog that gives all the details into each social media platform.

Pay-Per-Click Advertising

Pay-per-click (PPC) advertising is another form of digital advertising. The way it works is pretty self-explanatory. You have to pay a price every time someone clicks on your ad. PPC ads are normally placed on search engines such as Google. These types of ads can be easily monitored for cost. You won’t have to worry about going over budget because you decide how much you’ll spend in total and once you’ve hit that limit, the ad has done its job.

OOH Advertising

Onto the more traditional advertising methods. OOH, or out-of-home, advertising are any ads that would be displayed in public for everyone to see. These can be placed strategically so it will catch the attention of your particular audience. For example, if you want to target wealthy business men and women, you could place your ad in the financial district in downtown Toronto. So what qualifies as an OOH ad? Here are a few:

  • Billboards
  • Transit ads (subway station, trains, bus shelters etc.)
  • Bus ads (ads that are printed on the side of a bus)
  • Wild postings

These OOH ads can also be transformed into digital advertisements. So, your basic print ad can be a digital, interactive screen. This can draw in someone walking by to see what the ad is all about and makes it more memorable.

Broadcast Advertising

Another form of traditional advertising you can try is broadcast advertising. This refers to time-based media such as commercials and radio ads. These typically might not be as cost-effective but it’s all about the approach. If you choose smaller, local networks it could be great for targeting a specific audience and be more affordable.

Direct Mail

The advertising world has had a difficult relationship with direct mail. At first, they were very popular, then with the rise of digital media, they were forgotten. Now, they have made a comeback. There’s no getting rid of direct mail. In case you’re unfamiliar with direct mail, it’s basically a form of advertising that you send to your target directly to their mailbox. These can be as creative or simple as you want and are great for personalized messages. Here are a few examples of ideas for direct mail:

  • Brochures
